Baldwin County Commission 2005 03 01

BALDWIN COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES
MARCH 1, 2005
BALDWIN COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
BAY MINETTE, ALABAMA

Members present were Frank Burt, Jr., Wayne A. Gruenloh, Albert Lipscomb and David Ed Bishop, Chairman.

Also present were Locke W. Williams, Clerk/Treasurer and J. Scott Barnett, Chief Counsel.

Commissioner Lipscomb said he understands that the State of Alabama will be looking at an interchange at County Road 13 on Interstate 10 and possibly, will accommodate the new mall with the Bass Pro Shop. That is in the works and is very significant. Commissioner Lipscomb said this is a vital link and will be very important as State Highway 181 (formerly known as County Road 27) is 4 laned. He was in hopes this will be completed before they get into the heavy construction and the widening of Highway 181.

Commissioner Lipscomb said there has been some concern through the years and he felt some of the reluctance has been that someday, it may become a 4 lane itself. He did not think that was planned and would not personally support that because of the 3 schools on County Road 13.

Chairman Bishop said there has been a lot of talk and discussion from the developers of the Bass Pro Shop about being able to ingress and egress off of the County Road 13 interchange onto a service road on the north said of Interstate 10. This would give them the ability to go in and out parallel with Interstate 10. Otherwise, there would only be one way in and out at the top of the hill.
