Council Meeting Update
Summary: Nothing happened that directly affects the TimberCreek issue, but...
The vote on the zoning map was related to changes that had already happened but I did note that the new draft map had the Magnolia 9 colored in dark green with the legend saying that this was 'golf course".
During the public hearing I asked what this meant and Councilwoman Burnett said that there wasn't an official zoning designation of golf course and that the map would need to be revised to reflect the correct zoning and that this would not be on the agenda at the next planning commission hearing but would probably be tabled in April.
Two very important pieces of news from the meeting:
Firstly, the meeting scheduled for Wednesday April 14th has been brought forward to Monday April 12th at 1.00pm. This, according to the Mayor, was due to the fact that two members would be on Spring Break and there was therefore a danger that a quorum would not be reached. The suggestion was raised that the meeting should be put back rather than brought forward but the response was that the decision had already been postponed due to lack of a quorum and that further delays should not be entertained.
Secondly, it was revealed that during a planning commission meeting not only does a quorum require six members to be present but that a motion for sub-division requires a minimum of six affirmative votes. Please write to your council representative and ask them to petition the planning commission to vote against the sub-division.
So, no real progress to report but at least there was nothing negative; just please make sure that all your neighbors know about the change in meeting dates.
