Planning Commission Update
"How can this sale be legal if the sub-division hasn't been approved?"
"I don't think this sale was legal"
"What about all the work done to preserve wetlands?"
"If this is allowed it will turn Daphne into a wild west style land grab with no need for the Planning Commission"
"The methods used by the owners were not good..."
"We shouldn't allow sub-division without a plan for the future"
"How could the probate judge ratify the sale without the sub-division approval?"
Raise your hand if you think these quotes were from concerned (and frustrated) residents of TimberCreek...
OK, put you hand down, you'd be wrong; in fact these were statements and questions raised by members of the planning commission themselves!
Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train but on this showing at least it looks like our cause has some support where it matters.
I've not had the pleasure of meeting new owner Rob Bradley but from what I've heard he wanted to buy all 27 holes, not just 18 with the other 9 on a 5-year lease. What I did hear for myself was representatives of TimberCreek Investments stumble on their words when they were asked by a member of the Planning Commission why they wouldn't make the Magnolia 9 part of the conservation easement. "We can't under the terms of the lease" was one response. Further, Larry Waldrop (TimberCreek Investments) also said that they had no plans for the property beyond the 5-year lease.
Writing a blog can be dangerous to a person's health so I'll leave the reader to draw their own conclusions from those statements..
The meeting lasted an hour and we had the opportunity to go on record with our views (thanks Tom) and I took the opportunity to inform the planning commission (as if they didn't know) about the Baldwin County plans for Woodrow Lane. I think the residents left with a little bit more of a spring in their steps than on previous occasions but we still need to keep pressing both at a City and a County level. I can't make the Baldwin County meeting this morning but hopefully someone will send me an update - check the Recent Tweets (top left of this page) for the latest.
Remember to sign the petition so that we can show them just how many people care about this.
What else can I do..?
The key to preserving TimberCreek as a residential sub-division is making people aware of the issues and letting our elected representatives know our feelings. Visit all the links below - leave your comments of support and tell us your own story of why you want to live in TimberCreek.

Donate. We will need money to obtain legal and real estate documents, we may need to hire a lawyer, some of your neighbors have already spent money on research, printing flyers and of course keeping this web site running. We can't pay volunteers for their time but we can reimburse expenses that are relevant to the objective. A full set of accounts will be made available on request and any money left over will either be returned pro-rata to everyone that donated or will be used for the good of the community as a whole.
